Prior to entering the private sector, Mr. Gorlin served in a number of senior positions in both the Executive and Legislative branches of Government. From 1972 to 1977, he was a senior international economist in the Department of the Treasury and in the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. As a senior economic advisor to Senator Jacob K. Javits (R-NY) from 1977-1981, he headed the Senator's economic staff and served as the Senator's liaison with the New York business and banking communities. In 1981, Mr. Gorlin served as Executive Assistant to the Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs. In 1982, he assumed the position of Senior Economic Advisor to the Administrator of the Agency for International Development.
